The National Healthlink Project provides a web-based messaging service which allows the secure transmission of clinical patient information between Hospitals, Health Care Agencies and General Practitioners. The project has been in operation since 1995 and has developed considerably since that time to its current status as national messaging broker.
On Friday, 27th January, the Minister for Health, Dr. James Reilly launched the Electronic Referral Project for Breast, Lung and Prostate Clinics. This project is a joint initiative between Healthlink, the NCCP and the ICGP/GPIT group. Standardised cancer referral forms have been developed and can be sent by GPs from within the accredited practice management systems to a Consultant at one of the eight designated cancer centres.
