August 2014 - Completion of Phase 1 of the National Electronic General Referral Pilot

Benefits for GPs include a centralised referral department to send all electronic appointments; the same referral form is used to refer to all spe-cialties and the form auto-populates the patientís data from the GPís computer system. Users also get an immediate acknowledgement of the referral and a prompt triage response, which makes it a safe, traceable system.
