What does Healthlink do?
Healthlink provides a web-based messaging service which allows the secure transmission of clinical patient information between Hospitals, Health Care Agencies and General Practitioners. The Healthlink team work in partnership with government boards, professional organisations and software vendors to meet the electronic communication requirement of primary and secondary care in Ireland.
Does Healthlink work with both Public and Private Hospitals?
We work with both public and private hospitals plus a number of clinical centres. The hospitals involved with Healthlink are at varying levels of participation and offer multiple services through HealthlinkOnline. How do I apply?
Applying for a Healthlink account is simple. Click on the 'Apply' link across the top menu and fill out the application form online, a member of the helpdesk team will then be in contact with you.
How much does it cost?
HealthlinkOnline is free of charge to GPs. Our services includes set-up, training and ongoing technical support. Some initial investment is required by hospitals to become involved in the project. Fees are also payable by private hospitals and clinics.
What kind of information is available?
Hospitals can send the following patient information: Lab Results, Radiology Results, A&E Attendance Notifications, Death Notifications, Discharge Notifications, Discharge Summaries, OPD Appointment Updates, Waiting List Updates, Out-of-Hours Reports, Cardiology Reports, Outpatient Clinic Letters and Emergency Department Letters. The system also allows GPs to send information into hospitals such as Cancer, General, Specialist and Neurology Referrals and Lab and Radiology Order Requests.
Do I need a Practice Management System?
No, you can use HealthlinkOnline even if you do not have a practice management system. You can read your messages online, print them if necessary and you will also benefit from receiving patient information faster than you would by post.
What Practice Management Systems do Healthlink work with?
Healthlink works closely with the four practice management software systems that have received GPIT certification to ensure full message integration is achieved. The four systems are: Complete GP, Health One, Helix Practice Manager and Socrates. We also work with the other software products on the market: GPMac and Dynamic GP who offer varying levels of integration. We would advise you to contact your software vendor to ensure your system is Healthlink-ready.
Do you come onsite for training?
All training is carried out over the phone. We use remote access software which means we can connect to your PC and give you a live demo and training session.
